LeapXpert + Webex: Compliant WhatsApp Messaging Arrives As An Add-On
SoWhatNowWhat — Signal
• Impact Threat Level: Low — wide Webex reach, but it is a paid add-on with no new capability and no pricing change. Decision: Monitor only • THE "WHAT": LeapXpert launched a Webex App Hub app that lets Webex users message clients on WhatsApp, with data loss prevention and full conversation capture. • THE "SO WHAT?": This is a LeapXpert add-on sold to Webex customers, not a Webex feature. It needs a Leap Work account plus a Webex license, WhatsApp is the only channel live, and the release carries no Cisco quote.
Summary
The LeapXpert Webex app, a new WhatsApp connector now live on Webex App Hub, was timed for the WebexOne conference on 5 October 2026. Staff log in with their usual Webex details, and they can chat with clients on WhatsApp from their phones or desktop screens. The setup checks every outgoing and incoming message for data leaks, and it keeps a complete record of the chat.

It boasts about reach, but leaves out the main details. The release cites 300,000 companies and 95% of the Fortune 500, then quotes tens of millions of users. Those are standard Webex customer figures, not real uptake for this app. You get no named customers, no price tags, and no timelines for the extra channels.
Treat this as a standard vendor claim for now. The press release only quotes Avi Pardo from LeapXpert, and it leaves out key details. Cisco is not named as a co-seller, builder, or reseller, which tells its own story.
What Happened: LeapXpert × Webex App Hub
The product: You can message clients on WhatsApp directly from Webex, using your normal login details, and keep track of every conversation.
The controls: The tool blocks data leaks going in or out, and stores the full chat for records.
The catch: A Leap Work account and a Webex license are both required.
The roadmap: They call WhatsApp the first option, but they leave out other apps, and release dates.
Availability: Live now on Webex App Hub.
Why This Reads As A Compliance Add-On, Not A Webex Feature
The buyer pays LeapXpert, not Cisco. Buyers need a Leap Work account alongside their Webex plan, so the cash goes to LeapXpert. Cisco gains a nice talking point, a stickier product, and avoids the compliance liability.
It answers a real objection, but only for one channel. Banks and brokers have spent years trying to stop staff chatting with clients on off-record apps. A monitored WhatsApp link inside Webex gives risk teams a tool they can finally accept, but it leaves every other app unmonitored for now.
Nothing here is hard to copy. Any platform with an store can host a partner app, so rivals can copy this quickly. Named clients, an official Cisco quote, or another live messaging app would make it a much bigger deal.
